Olfish Explorer

Olfish Explorer enables users to extract maximum value from stored and captured fishing data. Skippers can view and edit recorded data such as detailed catch information, fishing gear used, environmental data and more. Olfish Explorer has a number of components where users can view their data in different forms such as the Activity Tree, Dynamic Timeline, Multimedia Browser and the Mapper, which is the Data Centre GIS component.

The Data Centre

The Data Centre is the Olfish database interface from which users can view and edit recorded data including: detailed catch information, fishing gear used, environmental and fishing quota management. The Data Centre has a number of components (panels) that allow users to view their data in different forms. All these components are dynamically linked to each other and include:

Activity Tree

All recorded fishing and non-fishing activities are listed in the Activity Tree. Vessel activities are presented as nodes in a hierarchical manner (vessel, trip, set). Day summaries are automatically added to the tree. The activity tree has a number of utilities that allow users to access a wide range of related data and observations.

Dynamic Timeline

All operational activities including: trip start, end, setting and hauling of fishing gear are graphically displayed on the Dynamic Timeline. The Dynamic Timeline can display information in a day, week, month or year view.

Mapper

The Mapper is a GIS component that displays vessel movements and fishing activities with other spatial data. Many types of charts can be incorporated into the Mapper using Olfish data, 3rd party data or charts, e.g. bathymetry maps, management areas, high resolution maps, weather maps, etc. The entire fishing fleet can be viewed on the Olfish shore unit.

Browser

The Browser is a reporting tool that displays summarised information on any activity that is selected from the Data Centre panels (Activity Tree, Dynamic Timeline or Mapper). The browser displays all relevant data on the selected activity including multimedia notes.

Report Centre

The Report Centre enables users to view and analyse fishing data in the Olfish database using a number of wizards and presentation platforms as required by commerial fishing companies. EU Fishing compliance reports can also be generated and mailed.

Table Viewer

The Table Viewer is a spreadsheet-like data matrix. Data can be grouped, filtered and organised to create an infinite number of fishing reports, which can later be printed or saved as: an Olfish native file, an HTML document, CSV file, or Excel spreadsheet.

Graph Viewer

The Graph Viewer tool graphically displays the selected data series from the data-set in the Table Viewer, this information is vital fishing management industry. Supported graph styles include bar, line, pie and scattered point graphs. The Graph Viewer includes a graph wizard component which guides the user through the setup and configuration of the graphs. Graphs can be saved, loaded or converted into digital images.

Chart Viewer (Report Centre Mapper)

The Chart Viewer is a GIS component that plots selected data statistics from the Table Viewer onto a digital map. These coordinates are loaded automatically every time a report is generated. Charts can be saved, loaded or converted into digital images. With the Chart Viewer, users can create different geographical charts based on filtering criteria set by the Table Viewer. These charts can be saved, and easily recalled using the Chart Viewer Layer Manager.
