Customisation

The Customisation component provides an interface to all the customisable items (reference data), and is used to customise each version to the user’s specific requirements. Predefined data lists such as species, products, gear, fishing areas and grades are populated with this component. These lists minimise keyboard usage when entering data throughout the software and therefore ensure data consistency and accuracy. Examples of customisation lists maintained by Olfish include species names, product lists, fishing areas, grades, product types and product conversion factors. Once applied, the customisation database rarely needs to be changed, and in most cases this allows the user to enter data with a simple mouse click. The maintenance of customisation data is only available to a user with customisation rights. Any customisation additions or modifications on the company version can be exported to the vessel versions. Besides the advantage of data consistency and accuracy, this also allows the complexity of maintaining reference data to be hidden from the vessel users. The following examples are for gear and product customisation.

Gear Customisation

Olfish can be customised for and by the user to describe the use of any modern fishing gear. Specifications of electronics, winches, trawl and purseseine nets, longline gear, traps and much more can all be customised to tailor-make the design of Olfish for the specific company or user.

Product Customisation

Olfish can be customised to allow the user to specify all of their requirements for fish products. This allows the user to detail any fish species, packing method, sorting and grading details, product type or any such information as required.
